Phantom Hidden Fastening Systems
Many homeowners want an unobstructed look to their finished decking boards. So WeatherBest can be installed easily using the Phantom hidden fastening systems. The fasteners are inserted between WeatherBest deck boards, then screwed down to the joists below. Not only is the decking held in place horizontally by each individual board for added structural strength, the screws are invisible, snug to the substructure, hidden by the boards above them.
Screw Fastening Systems
For trim, accessories and stair treads, WeatherBest boards are available in a Square Edge version (no side grooves). These boards are fastened traditionally with face fasteners. If using screws, we recommend #8 x 21/2'' screws with countersink-type heads. Pre-drilling holes provides a more attractive installation by ensuring against possible “mushrooming” of the composite out the screw.
